New Custom Order!

Hi everyone! I know it's been a while since I've been around here, but we've been working our butts off over here. We actually finished a new character too! It's a custom order I made for a co-worker who is obsessed with Wolverine. She said she didn't care if it was old school or Hugh Jackman Wolverine, so we went with Hugh Jackman. Take a look!
At first I wasn't sure about the jacket, but I think it turned out really well. If you're familiar at all with the movies I think it's really recognizable. You can take his jacket off, too, if you like the tank top look. I also like his belt buckle, which really isn't an "X" (except when he's in his little leather X-men outfit, but not when he's in his casual clothes) but I like it. I think the cigar really pulls everything together.
This gives you a better picture of his hair. His hair is actually made the same way as the other characters, it's just styled so that it stick out on the sides. You can see his sideburns, too. And his claws are just made out of sculpey and then shoved into the ends of his arms. They are kind of bendable, but really sharp.


And a closeup of his dog tags. You can actually kind of read the numbers and the word "Wolverine" that's carved on them, but they are really tiny.

Anyway, let me know what you think! Do you think he looks Wolverine-ish, or would you have preferred the classic yellow and blue jumpsuit thingy better? Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend! Stay tuned for more creations coming soon!

Oh, it looks like Wolfie and Hellboy got into a fight over which cigars are the best. They're kind of fighting.
Bad mutants!

New custom order!

Alright, here's a new dude! His name is Kakashi and he's from Naruto. Sometimes anime characters come out kind of funny looking (I think because a cartoon medium doesn't always translate well to our dudes) but I think he turned out really well. I'm not really familiar at all with Naruto, but I think this little guy can be appreciated even if you are not a fan.

I think he's really sharp looking. He has a little headband on, and a scarf thing around his neck. He also has some crazy pockets on his vest, and little patches on his arms.



Whoa! Crazy eye! That's what his little headband is hiding. It's just made out of sculpey. I'd probably wear a headband too if I had a crazy looking eye like that.

Anyway, I guess that was a pretty short post. I just wanted to share the new dude with everyone. I hope you guys like him! Stay tuned for more craziness coming soon!

Fava Beans and Yarn

Alright, here's our latest custom order! He's kind of creepy, but I think he retains enough cuteness to not be totally creepy. Almost. He's pretty simple, as far as our dudes go, but I think he captures the essence of Hannibal really well.

Okay, he's pretty creepy. Lecter isn't really allowed to have any accessories (beside the very stylish face mask) because everyone knows what he can do with his teeth, let alone any accessories. The boy was able to make a little extra thing for him, though:


He did get a little picture of Florence to hang in his cell. And, as you can see here, his little face mask is removable, for those times when he's safely behind three inches of bulletproof glass. Anyway, hope you enjoy him!

Like the fist of an angry Hellboy

Alright guys, here's our latest dude!
It's Hellboy! And I think he turned out so cute. And he was always so worried that people thought he was a monster. How could something this cute be a monster!
You can see his huge arm here. It's just a little cone of sculpey that my boyfriend carved symbols into, and it just fits right over his regular arm. He also has a little belt buckle, communicator/locator thingy, a horseshoe and rosary. And of course his tail.
Here he is, smoking his cigar. You know, those aren't very good for you. This picture also shows a little detail on his coat.

Anyway, more pics up at the flickr site. And don't worry, Hellboy has a couple of kitties sitting around for him that I needlefelted. Some kitties may have been attacked by real kitties, but they are mostly intact. I'm sure I'll get pictures of Hellboy with his kitties eventually, so keep an eye out. Anyway, stay tuned! Finally!

Hello everyone! Just a quick note to tell you that I finally finished the pattern I have been working on! Behold:
Awww, isn't Luke cute? This is the first time we've actually finished him, and he turned out really great. Anyway, the pattern can be purchased on my store website or over at etsy. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Flight of the Conchords

Alrighty guys, here's another creation! I couldn't post these earlier because they were a custom order for a Christmas present for someone, so they had to be kept a secret until afterward, but now I can show everyone! I actually hadn't really seen anything by these guys until someone wanted them, but their little costumes are really cute.

Their guitars were actually kind of daunting, but they came out looking really nice. I like the shiny green and red electric guitar. But wait! These guys can transform....

...into robots! These little dudes have removable robot costumes and the little guitars fit around their necks. The robot costumes are actually just made out of cardboard and slip over their heads, and their arms are silver crochet and just slip over the amigurumi part.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy these little dudes! I think they're pretty cute, even if I really don't know who they are. I like robots, so they can't be that bad, right? Anyway, stay tuned! New patterns should be up this week!

A team effort

Alrighty everyone! I've been tantalizing you with a hint of a new dude, and after much procrastinating he is finally done! I present to you:
A Team Fortress 2 Engineer! Okay, for those of you who don't have the Orange Box, I'll just fill you in. The engineer is this little dude here, who apparently does something very important with this little dispenser thingy. Alright, I admit it, I've never played TF2, mainly because I don't want to pay for a gold account on Xbox Live, and also because I'm scared of Xbox Live users. I do have the Orange Box though, so I'm half way there. Anyway--oh yeah, the dude.See, his little goggles come off too! And his little hat, of course. And he can hold his little wrench. I have to say, I'm most impressed with him, I think he turned out just perfect. Here's a closeup of the dispenser.

I think it's so cool! It's actually pretty big too, there's a lot of sculpey on that thing.

Anyway, if you want to see more pictures check out my flicker, as always. I'm not sure if we are really planning on anything big for our next project (DANGIT I still want to do Leonidas though), but I am working on a personal project that I'll probably post here later. Anyway, stay tuned!

Sorry, no ridiculously huge shoes here

Hey everyone! We just finished a new figure, and I wanted to show him off here. It's Sora, from Kingdom Hearts. He looked really simple in the beginning, but he turned out to have a lot of really complicated little things on him. Stupid Squeenix, with all of their stupid belts and buckles. Anyway, here he is!
I'm not a huge fan of Kindgom Hearts (though I did play and like the first one) but I think he's really cute. His little keyblade is really adorable. I like the huge zipper on his jacket too, that was the boyfriend's idea.
A lot of the details are painted on, but some (like the yellow straps around the front and the black ones around the red) are real ribbons with real tiny little buckles. We just made a generic keyblade for him, but I think it's really cute.

Anyway, I hope you guys like him! More new little dudes coming soon. Stay tuned!

You asked for it

And here she is!
She has to be so mysterious! What a drama queen. Alright, take off your cloak.
That's more like it! Here is Zelda. She had a lot of little sculpey details, as you can see her shoulder armor, front piece, belt piece and crown are all made out of sculpey, with little colored beads stuck in them. Her dress is painted at the bottom. My sculpey maker says that all of her accessories are probably the most complicated thing he's ever done. They look great in person, though. They are all really tiny and detailed, though, I can't envy him ever having to make more.
She's ready to kick some ass, too. She doesn't need a boy to come save her! She has her own slender but very menacing sword.

I'd like to eventually make Midna as the Twilight Princess, and we've already had some family members asking for Ganondorf, (I always type his name Ganondork, it's my inner dork coming out) but who knows when we will even/ever get a chance to start on them. It would be cool to have the whole gang, though, and the Twilight Princess is pretty neat looking.

Anyway, sorry things have been so quiet around here lately. I'll try to update more, but we've just been knocked on our buts lately with custom orders. Hopefully things will be quieting down soon, and we'll be able to get back to making new characters. I know we have some super cool new Star Wars ones coming soon, so be on the look out for that within the week. Stay tuned!

The best (and only) kind of doubles: evil doubles!

Okay everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but I hope once I show you what we've been working on, you'll forgive me! I present to you: the Star Trek crew! But not just any crew--the evil Star Trek crew!
Aren't they cute? They are from the "Mirror, mirror" episode of the original Star Trek series. We made (from left to right) Uhura, Marlena, Kirk, Spock, Bones, and Scotty. Aren't they so evil, with their little gold sashes? They have lots of little evil badges on, too. I love Kirk's little sparkly vest. Here's a closeup of Kirk and Spock, best (evil) buds:
I think the most challenging thing on this set of dudes was their hair (on my end, at least, I think those incredibly tiny sculpey badges were probably hard on the boyfriend), but I think in the end it turned out so well. Spock's little bowl cut totally makes him, and Kirk's combover/widow's peak hair looks awesome. Uhura's hair was the most difficult, but it definitely turned out super cute.
Okay, well, you can't really see it that well here, but I fixed it all up really nice in a little up-do. I think it totally looks like her, though. I like how the women get all sexified--maybe it's a subliminal message showing that scantily clad women equal evil women? Who knows.

Oh yeah, and here are all of their little extras:
See the two phasers? Well, they have a little black part that comes off, and it's held on by magnets. The left one shows the black part that is separated, and the right one has everything all together. And the little communicator flips open, too. I think the communicator is really cute.

Okay, anyway, that's it! I hope you guys like it. This was a really big custom order, so now that it's done we'll have some more time to finish Zelda and do more projects. Or I can just play Mass Effect some more. How come no one told me that game was so awesome?

I am planning on putting up some free patterns this week, to try and atone for my laziness in blogging this week. It's time to save the world

What do you say to that, Link? Nothing! Get it? Because Link doesn't talk! Okay, whatever. Anyway, here is Link! I was going to wait to post him until we had Zelda done, but I'm impatient and I want to show him off now, so here he is!
I think he's so adorable! I hardly did any work on him either, the boyfriend did most of the work this time. He did all of the decorative stitching and everything, which goes all around his hat and his tunic. He has little gauntlets too, which I think look a little cumbersome, but the boyfriend likes them. Anyway, that is just a picture of plain Link, here's a picture of his accessories.
He has a Master Sword, a shield, an ocarina, and a lonlon milk bottle. It's really very cute, it has a little label with a little cow on it and everything. We just found these little empty bottle charm thingies at Hobby Lobby, and he painted the inside white with a little paint and then taped the little label on. And Link can carry everything on him, too, except the ocarina. Like Boromir, his shield attaches to his back, and his sword fits in behind the shield. The milk can be attached on the belt too, it has a little loop on the top. Here's a better view of how it attaches:

Zelda will be following soon (I hope...) but we're still working on the Star Trek people, so who knows when we'll get a chance to finish her. Hopefully we're going to have the Star Trek crew finished by next week--they are going to be SO cool, by the way--so that will free up some time to work on our little side projects. Of course, with Mass Effect taking up a lot of my free time, who knows. I'll try to stay on task though! Stay tuned!

Behind the Music: The Max Rebo Band

Today, on Behind the Music: the Max Rebo band. The Max Rebo Band was an underground success in the crime-lord industry, but their climb to the top was not an easy one. Today we look at the rough and tumble childhood of Max Rebo.
Raised at home alone by his mom, Max was always plagued with the fact that his father, Rusty Rebo, had left the family when Max was just a child in order to follow his dreams as an actor. Rusty landed a couple of repeated stints on the semi-popular daytime drama "Dantooine Days" and was in a couple of small playhouse shows called "The Sun Sets on Tatooine". Then Max's world was turned upside down.

Rusty was found dead in his studio apartment from an apparent spice overdose. Max did not take the news well, and in his innocence he turned to the comforts of nature that his home provided him, in order to avoid dealing with his true feelings of abandonment and sadness over his father's death.
In an effort to coax Max out of the garden, Max's mother, Luna Rebo used a month's worth of food stamps to buy Max a jizzwailer, in hopes that the young boy would take to the instrument and be able to express himself by song. Unfortunately, Max's large nose hindered his ability to play the instrument very well, and in an act of defiance, mixed with his guilt towards failing to please his mother or being able to keep his father at home, Max left his grief stricken mother and decided to run away from home. He took his jizzwailer and stowed away on a ship, not knowing where it was going, and left his old life behind.

At the young age of 15, Max was now living on the streets of Tatooine, the planet where the nameless ship had eventually dropped him. Max only had the jizzwailer that had cost his family so dearly, and in spite of not being able to play very well he managed to eke out a living among the less reputable taverns and cantinas of the desert planet. Max soon fell in with a bad crowd, and took to drinking heavily. Often he would barter his musical services in order for a drink, in lieu of money.
But a storm was lingering over the horizon of Max's career. He started to hang around with members of Jabba's palace, bounty hunters and mercenaries and the like. Max was almost at the end of his rope.

Next week on Behind the Music: Max's life turns around when he meets a kind stranger named Droopy McCool.

Chii?

Hey there everyone! We just finished a custom order last night, and I wanted to share--I know a couple of people have asked if I would make these, so I thought you guys might be interested.
He he! They are little Chii and Freya from the Chobits anime! I'm always kind of wary of making anime people, because my human Futurama people didn't turn out so well (I know, I know, they're not anime, but they are animated, so they translate the same) but I think these guys actually turned out really well. The boyfriend actually did most of the work on these, I pretty much just did the hand-sewing.
Their dresses were actually pretty complicated, compared to some of the people we have done in the past. And they were both different, too, even though they look similar. I think my favorite part of them is the back:
With the little lace up! And the ribbons. The black one has a lace up too, but no ribbons. Her dress is more complicated looking in the back, though. And they both have lace around the bottom of their dresses, which we have never used before, but which was pretty easy to work with and turned out looking really cute.

Anyway, that's it! I just wanted to let you guys know that we've been working over here, contrary to what it might seem like at times. We actually have another dude finished, but he's part of a pair, and I'm wondering if I should wait to post him until the other one is done.

Have a great fourth of July, Americans! And it's the boyfriend's birthday today, so there's going to be cake and festivities tonight, but hopefully we might still get some work done. Stay tuned!

Knights of the Old Republic

Alright, we finished another custom order! Whoo! Anyway, this little guy is Darth Revan from "Knights of the Old Republic". He's the guy (or girl) that you play as during the game. I have never played it, but the boyfriend has, but I always thought it looked fun. Maybe I'll have to dig it up and play it now. Anyway, viola! Here he is:

He looks so evil, with his little hood! He actually has a lot of different layers--the brown part (which has decorative sewing and painting on it), the red thing that hangs down, the gray belt, and then the ring with the straps coming off of it. It's a pretty cool costume, actually.
His cloak can be removed too, there are little claspies (kind of like Superman's cape) that hold it on. His helmet comes off to, and kind of snaps on the front of his face.
Our customer wanted a lighstaff, too, that's why the lightsaber looks a little bigger than normal. He looks kind of cute without his helmet on!

Well, that's it for now. I'm having some trouble deciding what to work on next--I do want to finish Batman, but I also want to do more Star Wars characters. I was thinking about making the Max Rebo Band, but I'm not sure if anyone would even want that. I still really want to do Link and Zelda, though, so I might do them first, I don't know. Ah! It's so frustrating.

Anyway, stay tuned! I know we'll have something cool completed by the end of the week.

Real American Villian

Okay you guys, Cobra Commander is done! He was especially hard to make, because there are so many different versions of him that it was really hard to choose which features we would replicate and which ones we wouldn't. Anyway, here is what we came up with!
He's so cute! But evil, remember, evil. Anyway, I was reading up on Cobra Commander on Wikipedia and the story they have for him is pretty amusing (I never knew anything about G.I. Joe before I made this guy). For instance, did you know that Cobra Commander has a son named Billy? And that he also took over a town called Springfield using a series of pyramid schemes? Ha ha ha, I thought it was hilarious.

Anyway, that's all for now! We're not really working on anything else right now, so maybe we'll have time to finish Batman. Or maybe the boyfriend can get started on Iron Man, I don't know. I'll keep you guys updated though!

I doubt the reach of HIS arm!

Because he's so tiny! Get it? Alright, nevermind. Anyway, here he is, (three days later than I promised, I know! I've been so bad!) Eomer, son of Eomund, rider of Rohan!
He he! Isn't he cute? He was pretty complicated, too. His helmet, of course, is amazing, and made out of scupey. He has, like, four layers of felt on---the green part (you can only see it sticking out of the front a little bit) and then the silver scale thing over that, and then the red armor part is two layers of felt. Then, everything is painted, and he has little gauntlets and fake chain mail. Here's his helmet:

It has a little horsey on the front and everything! And of course the horse tail (or whatever it is supposed to be) coming out of the top of the helmet. Look at all of the little details and engravings! It's crazy.

And here's everything all laid out--his helmet, and sword. His sword just tucks into his belt.

Anyway, I was so excited to share him with you guys, I just couldn't wait! We will be putting some better pictures on flickr later today or tomorrow, so keep an eye out for them. Cobra Commander is next, we're planning on having him ready by this weekend.

Shiny!

Hi everybody, sorry I haven't had any new things to post for a while, we've been kind of busy working on custom orders. Two of those orders are new characters though, so as soon as they're done we'll have some new pictures for you! It's hard work trying to keep our shop full (yeah right, like that's going to happen) and work on our custom orders at the same time and fit time to watch Voyager everyday (just kidding). Anyway, even though they are not exactly new I though I would share more Firefly pics!
Like little Kaylee. We got her the little umbrella at Target; I know, I know, it's not the right color or design, but I think it's the general effect that's more important. I like her little flower on her belt, too. The pink felt underneath is supposed to be her shirt, but I think if I make another Kaylee I will make her whole upper body in the same yarn as her arms, so it's all variegated and colorful.

And here's Simon--I thought he was going to be really boring, but I think he's actually pretty cute. I like his jacket and his little faux-collar underneath his vest. He even has a chain for his pocket watch.
I was going to make him his red doctor's bag, too, and I never got around to it, because I was too excited to have the whole crew done. One day, I promise, I will make it for him, since he doesn't have much in the way of accessories. We were also thinking about making his red glasses from the first episode, but they creep me out for some reason.

Anyway, we should have a new character to show you by the weekend, if everything goes as planned, so stay tuned!
