Legolas and Gandalf:
This pattern uses an F hook and worsted weight yarn.
BC: bottom color (the "pants")
TC: top color (the "shirt")
AC: arm color (the arms)
SC: skin color (for any skin parts)
BODY:
With BC, work 2 ch
Row 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook
Row 2: (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) three times
Row 4: (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) seven times
You should have around 20 stitches by now
Row 5: even
Row 6: (sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st) until end of row
Row 7: (sc in next 4 st, 2 sc in next st) until end of row
Row 8: even
Row 9 (sc in next 5 st, 2 sc in next st) until end of row
You should have around 40 stitches by now Change to TC (Gandalf does not change color)
Row 10-14: even
Row 15: (sc in next 7 st, sc2tog) until end of row
Row 16-17: (sc in next 6 st, sc2tog) until end of row
Row 18: even
Row 19: (sc in next 5st, sc2tog) until end of row
Row 20: (sc in next 4 st, sc2tog) until end of row
Row 21: even
Row 22: (sc in next 3 st, sc2tog) until end of row
You should have about 17 stitches by now
Now is a good time to put in the arms
ARMS: Make two
With SC, ch 2
Row 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook
Row 2: (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) twice
Row 3: even
Row 4: even
Change to AC
Row 5: even
Row 6: even
Row 7: even
Row 8: even, BO, leave a long yarn tail to attach arm to body
Attach these to the body and pick up the stitch on the stitch holder with the skin color to finish the head.
HEAD: With SC
Row 23: (sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st) until end of row
Row 24: (sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st) until end of row
Row 25: (sc in next 4 st, 2 sc in next st) until end of row
Row 26: (sc in next 5 st, 2 sc in next st) until end of row
Row 27-29: even
Row 30: (sc in next 4 st, sc2tog) until end
If you have safety eyes, now would be a good time to put them in--try to place them around row 22
Row 31: (sc in next 3 st, sc2tog) until end of row
Row 32: (sc in next 2 st, sc2tog) until end of row
Now is when you want to stuff the whole body, and even put a weight down at the bottom if you are so inclined. Make sure you stuff the body very tightly.
Row 33: (sc in next 1 st, sc2tog) until end of row or until the head is completely closed up.
Weave in all ends.

No problem! The hair is actually made out of embroidery floss. They have more variety of colors, so it's easier to try and get that perfect shade.

I was wondering if you can please tell me what milimeter size safety eyes you used in the Gandalf and Legolas pattern, unless I overlooked it.

Oh my gosh falwyn, he is SO CUTE! I love the ears! I think his skin looks great, too. I use Vanna White's yarn in "beige" for the skin on my dudes.

About how tall is the amigurumi when finished, may I ask? I'd like to work amigurumi of some of my favorite comic book characters.
Samantha (that's my name too!) they are about 5-6 inches tall when done. You can squish them to be fatter if you want, once they are stuffed, but I usually pull on mine to make them taller.
Make sure you post pictures when you're done!
These are amazing! I can't wait to try. I do have a question tho, How do you keep their clothes on? Do you hot glue them? or sew them? Or how do you make Gandalf hold his staff, or Link his sword? That's just crazy!

Their clothes are usually sewn on, except for jackets, pretty much. Usually the pictures of the characters holding their weapons are just staged, but we have used magnets with some success before. Hope that helps!

I'm trying to rock your pattern as best I can but I have a teeny question; should the arms be sewn in on row 17 or lower?
I always try and put the arms two rows beneath the neck. If you are worried about it, you can always pin them to the body and check to make sure it looks right. You can even attach the arms after the body and head are completely stuffed, though it is a little bit more of a pain to do it that way. I hope that helps!

@Shannon--actually, it's super easy. Just ch 5, turn, sc 4 and bind off. Then use the yarn tails to attach to the head. Easy!

Hi, you've got some amazing stuff here. For the amigurumi weapons, pipes, and such what material do you use?
It's all sculpey. Most of it is just white and then painted after it is finished baking. There are detailed sculpey tutorials in each pattern from my etsy store, geekcentralstation.etsy.com. Thanks!
This is probably a silly question, but in the pattern where it says "even" - what does that mean? Loving the pattern!
"Even" just means to do a single crochet in the one below it, do not increase or decrease at all. Hope that helps!

Taylor, this pattern is for little amigurumi's that don't have legs, they just have a little rounded bottom. If you want the characters with legs, just click on the pictures in the side bar.

I'm working on this pattern, and I have a couple of questions:
1. At the top it says that you DIDN'T use sugar 'n cream yarn for the body, and then it says, if you choose NOT to use sugar 'n cream yarn, see the other pattern. So are you using sugar 'n cream yarn or not?
2. When it says you should have about 40 stitches, I had 35. Is this a bad thing?
3. What do you mean by BO in row 8 of the arm?
4. It says to put the eyes around row 22. Row 22 is the bottom of the head....am I reading this wrong??
Hi Anonymous! Hope I can answer your questions.
1) You're right, it's a typo! The pattern on this page is for all worsted weight yarns.
2)Stitch count doesn't need to be exact, as long as it looks right to you in the end that's all that matters. Also, I can't count very well, so it's entirely possible your numbers and right and mine are wrong!
3) BO stands for "Bind Off". That is, cut the yarn and pull it through the last loop to secure it.
4) You're right, another typo. Should be around row 27, but really whatever looks best to you should be fine.
